Scheme of Polytechnics for persons with Disabilities (SPPWD), under the MHRD Govt. of India, New Delhi, in state of Gujarat, at Govt. Polytechnic, Ambavadi, Ahemdabad : 15 has implemented, the project since the year 1999-2000.

 

                

FORMAL COURSES  :  (Long Term Diploma Courses)

 

Gujarat State is running various Diploma Courses after the Std. 10^th, (Like Diploma in Civil, Mechanical , Electrical, Automobile, Plastic, EC, IC, Computer, IT).

 

Under the special scheme run by MHRD. New Delhi 25 seats have been reserved in above courses. Students who have passed 10^th Std. with English, Science & Mathematics are admitted through Centralised  Diploma Admission Committee, Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad, Such students are separately interviewed by the experts from V.R.C. Ahmedabad by Keeping in view the nature of Disability of person the course in which one canbe admitted is decided by the experts. Students admitted as described above are only eligible for financial aid as prescribed in the project.

 

NON FORMAL COURSES :-  (Short- term certificate courses)

A permanent study centre is established in the Institute near the workshop  building. In this centre various non formal courses of short term of about 03 months are run under the direct guidance & counseling of expert course tutors during the course. On successful completion of course an examination is taken and certificate is awarded. Financial support is provide to the students admitted through defined procedure only, under the scheme as per the guide line of MHRD, New delhi. Total 100 trainees are admitted in various courses during the year.

 

 

Under the project, provision is made for free training and economic support to trainees.

Under the project two types of courses are being run.
